Szego Seminar: "Various Invariants"

Abstract: I will discuss how some basic results of complex analysis, operator theory, and algebraic topology that are typically seen in qual courses or early research study may be related to each other by the use of certain invariants. In particular, I will discuss Rouche's theorem/zero counting, compact operators/the Fredholm index, and fundamental groups/the winding number. If time permits, I will stand silently until the remainder of the talk's scheduled time is exhausted.
