MAJOR ORAL/Geometry Topology Seminar: "The Combinatorics of the Arveson-Douglas Conjecture"

Mohammad Jabbari, Washington University in Saint Louis

Abstract: We discuss the Arveson-Douglas conjecture for monomial ideals in Bergman spaces. This is about the compactness of commutators for Hilbert module actions. This special (monomial) case of the conjecture was solved by William Arveson using his previously developed theories about non self-adjoint operator algebras. Our method is elementary and geometric. This is joint work with Ronald Douglas and Xiang Tang."
