Algebraic Geometry Seminar: "Semi-Abelian Motives"

Abstract: I will discuss some joint work in progress with Madhav Nori on the construction of a category of semi-abelian motives. The construction is based on Nori’s construction of the category of mixed motives (which we will also recall). In the case of tori, this gives rise to motivic Gamma functions and contains the category of `hypergeometric’ motives. If there is time, we will also discuss some applications to cohomology support loci.
