Szego Seminar: "Intersection Homology Theory"

Tokio Sasaki, Washington University in Saint Louis

Abstract: It is a classical and well-known fact that any oriented closed manifold satisfies the Poincaré duality, which is the isomorphisms between singular homology and cohomology groups. Allowing certain reasonable singularities, we can generalize this duality to the isomorphism between intersection homology and cohomology. The goal of this talk is giving the overview of the intersection homology theory and stating the generalized Poincaré duality.
