Analysis Seminar: "Universality of the least singular value for sparse random matrices"

Patrick Lopatto, Harvard University

Abstract: Motivated by problems in both pure and applied mathematics, we study the distribution of the least singular values associated to an ensemble of sparse random matrices. Using the dynamical approach to random matrix theory developed in the proof of the Wigner-Dyson-Mehta conjecture, we show this distribution is universal in the sense that it is independent of the underlying distribution of the matrix entries. This talk is based on joint work with Ziliang Che.
