Geometry & Topology Seminar: "[Q,R]=0 and Verlinde sums"

Abstract: I will describe an approach to the quantization-commutes-with-reduction theorem for Hamiltonian loop group spaces based on a combinatorial decomposition for "Verlinde sums".  This approach is inspired by work of Szenes, Vergne, Boysal and Paradan.  Time permitting, I will describe how to handle the singular case as well.  This is joint work with Eckhard Meinrenken.
