Speaker: Professor Elliott Lieb from the Department of Physics and Mathematics at Princeton University

Lecture title: *Applications of Reflection Positivity: Graphene and Other Examples*

Date: November 14, 2012

Time: 4:00 pm - 5:00 pm

Location: Room 110, January Hall

Abstract: Reflection positivity is a useful tool in mathematics, statistical mechanics and condensed matter physics. A recent application is to the determination of the possible distortions of the hexagonal graphene lattice. Other applications, such as to potential theory, the flux-phase problem, Peierls instability and stripe formation, will also be given.

Coffee will be served at 3:30 pm, in room 241 of Compton Hall
