An summer internship can be a good addition to your resume. It can also be a chance to see whether you might like working in a certain field--for example, as an actuary.
Occasionally some company will mention to the department that it's looking for interns. When that happens, the information is emailed to all majors.
But the best resource on campus for finding internships is the Washington University Career Center. (Enter "internships" into their search tool.) The Career Center will also have information about campus visits by companies who are recruiting to find interns or employees.
